Zomato, Swiggy call claims of antitrust probe by CCI as ‘misleading’
Zomato addressed the claims of the antitrust investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) into its business practices, and called them “misleading”.
Netizens welcomed Zomato’s response and lauded the food delivery service for ‘publicly rejecting the growing hate and bigotry’.
Food delivery platform Zomato won over the Internet after its epic reply to a customer who tweeted about cancelling his order stating that the designated rider was a “non-Hindu”.
In a bizarre tweet, the customer Amit Shukla said, “Just cancelled an order on @ZomatoIN they allocated a non hindu rider for my food they said they can’t change rider and can’t refund on cancellation I said you can’t force me to take a delivery I don’t want don’t refund just cancel” (sic).

In one of the tweets, he said that Zomato was forcing people to take deliveries from people whom they don’t approve of and refuses to refund on cancellation. He further said that he will be removing the food delivery app and will take up the matter with his lawyers.
However, Zomato was quick to respond.

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal seconded the company’s stand saying, “We are proud of the idea of India – and the diversity of our esteemed customers and partners. We aren’t sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of our values”.

The company’s response was welcomed by netizens. Many lauded Zomato for “publicly rejecting the growing hate and bigotry”.
The customer has also come under fire for his tweets.
